“Never will I leave you. Never will I forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5
Comforting passage after comforting passage continues to find me. What a great God he is to say such loving promises.
“Never” is s strong word. It’s not a “when I feel like it” kind of word or a word that is in any sort of gray area. It is NO. NEVER. Not even once for a second. And that’s the promise. That our God will never leave and never turn his back on us… not even once for a second. That’s amazing.
Sometimes in our society today I feel that words lose their meaning. “Never” can be said so passively. “Oh I would never wear that.” “I would never say that.” “Never would I ever do that.” BUT the sad reality is that no human will ever never do what they say they’ll never do… because they’re human. But God makes a God-sized promise that He and only He can keep. Again, this stuff is amazing and I’m humbled and joyful that these promises belong to me!
