#25 – Memorize a Bible verse a week for 6 months. 10/24

For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power, love, and discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7

There have been various events in the past few months (more specifically the past week) that absolutely terrify me and make me really sad. Tragedies. And heartbreak and fear come right along with them. But reflecting on the POWER and LOVE of God my Father and being DISCIPLINED to live out these attributes of the King with no fear drives out that spirit of timidity that Timothy so clearly says is not from God.

That’s awesome. In times of fear. Doubt. Whatever. God wants us to share his strength by training ourselves to love through it.

Which leads to this:

We talked about the Armor of God at youth last week and I was just really convicted to try to live out wearing this as true armor in my day to day life. I know the picture is silly. It’s a knight. I know. But the image depicts what is REAL in the spiritual realm. It shows the defenses that we have been equipped with to fight off the evils of this world. But we have also been given a sword. A mighty weapon. The word of God itself. Cool 🙂

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

That’s the key, folks 🙂
